Over 20 years ago, I sat captivated as I watched the movie The Beach. Its stunning location, gripping story, and incredible acting left a lasting impression on me. I dreamed of visiting this paradise, but life had other plans, and over time, I let that dream drift away.
Fast forward to now: I found myself on a flight from Bangkok to Phuket. As the plane descended, a familiar song, Touched by Vast, played through my headphones. It was the same hauntingly beautiful track from the movie’s soundtrack—a serendipitous moment that gave me chills. Out of the hundreds of songs on my playlist, that one played at the perfect time. It felt like a message from the universe, affirming I was exactly where I needed to be.
When I finally set foot on Maya Bay, the feeling was indescribable. The sand was softer than anything I’d ever experienced, like walking on melted butter. As I walked along the shore, I was hit by a wave of emotions—not just the joy of being there, but the realization that this place symbolized a dream I had buried long ago.
Years were spent being a husband, raising a family, and focusing on others. Yet here I was, standing in a moment that felt like a gift from my younger self. As I lifted my camera to capture the scene, I knew the photograph wasn’t just about the beauty of Maya Bay. It was a reminder that dreams might take time, but when the universe aligns, they have a way of finding you again.
This wasn’t just a trip. It was a full-circle moment. I made it to The Beach.
